Scholarship Distribution Ceremonies; India Visit
The 2025-26 SHDF Scholarship round has been completed with a record number of scholarships (well exceeding 1600) awarded. Students for these scholarships, some of the brightest but from families facing serious economic hardships, are from over 150 colleges, including some of the top colleges in Punjab. Scholarship distribution ceremonies are currently underway, organized by our partner Sikh Education Society, a highly prestigious and venerable educational establishment, across Punjab and Chandigarh, with many more expected in the coming weeks. Here is a glimpse of the scholarship distributions so far.
Last week, students received their scholarship checks in ceremonies at Khalsa College, Garhshankar; Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy, Chandigarh; and Sikh National College, Banga. At one ceremony, students put up banners thanking SHDF for “giving wings to their dreams.”

SHDF Chairman Dr. Manmohan Singh Kumar recently visited India, with productive meetings with students and scholarship recipients, the SHDF team in Chandigarh, the Vice Chancellors of Punjab University in Chandigarh, and of Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar Sahib and Principals of many premier colleges (see some photos below). He had deeply moving one-on-one interactions with several students, offering them support and mentorship. He also had constructive meetings with several private companies especially in the AI area, exploring internship possibilities as well as job opportunities for our students, and interacted with several institutions providing vocational training and with donors in India. There was unanimous strong appreciation and support for the SHDF scholarship program, which everyone regarded as helping transform the lives of the financially weakest, yet able and dedicated, students’ lives, and the lives of their families and communities. Details provided in the forthcoming Newsletter.
