Scholarship distribution ceremonies organized by our partner, the Sikh Educational Society, continued through the summer across Punjab and Chandigarh. They included some of the major isntitutions including Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh; Sikh National College in Banga; Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy in Chandigarh; Punjabi University in Patiala; Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College in Garhshankar; Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College in Sri Anandpur Sahib; and the Sikh Educational Society campus in Faridkot.
Each ceremony brought together students, parents, faculty members, and college administrators, to recognize the achievements of deserving scholars and highlight the importance of supporting higher education. The events drew notable attention from the press, with Ajit, one of Punjab’s most prominent newspapers, spreading awareness of SHDF’s scholarship program and its growing impact across Punjab.
Students and their parents expressed immense gratitude for the financial support, sharing how the scholarships had reduced the burden of educational expenses and enabled them to continue their studies with greater confidence. College principals, faculty members, and university officials also conveyed their sincere appreciation to SHDF for supporting talented students from financially disadvantaged families and helping them pursue their academic and professional goals.

Sikh National College
Fifty students at Sikh National College in Banga, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, were awarded scholarships.

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College
58 students received scholarships totaling ₹14 lakh. Padma Shri Sardar Singh — Olympian, former captain of the Indian Hockey Team, and head coach of India’s Under-18 squad — joined as chief guest. A follow-up ceremony is planned to honor 26 more students, including visually impaired recipients.

The delegation also visited the college’s Pharmacy campus, joined by Principal Ravneet Kaur, Col. (Retd.) Jasmer Singh Bala, Gurdev Singh, Gurbir Singh Brar, and Karandeep Singh Cheema.

Punjabi University
The scholarship program made its extension into Punjabi University, with Vice Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh hosting the ceremony in the Senate Hall. A cheque for ₹38,22,000 was presented to beneficiary students from departments across the university.

Twenty-seven students received ₹7.70 lakh in scholarships this cycle. Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera later wrote to SHDF’s Director on behalf of the college’s Management, Faculty, and Staff, calling the visit from the SHDF-SES delegation motivating for students and faculty alike.
