A founding member who has been in the organization since its inception in 1999. Retired from the World Bank, where he held budget and finance management positions. He oversaw and worked on finance-related projects and programs for several countries.
HARBAKSH SINGH SETHI | Coordinator, India Programs
Dr. Harbaksh Singh Sethi is a founding member of the organization. He earned his Ph.D. in engineering from Germany. Dr. Sethi started his career by working as an officer in the Planning Commission, Delhi. He went on to work as an industrial engineer at a German Manufacturing Company. In 1978, he joined the World Bank. He worked as an Industrial Project Officer to the Regional Advisor at the World Bank in Washington DC until 2002 and has since been working as a Consulting Advisor to the World Bank. He is deeply involved in community, Philanthropic efforts, and international activities.
JASPREET KAUR AHUJA | Secretary General
Senior Nutritionist in the USDA since 1992. She is responsible for the U.S. National Nutrient Database and is USDA’s lead scientist for the multimillion, inter-agency research project, “Monitoring Sodium in the U.S. Food Supply.” She has published several papers in reputable nutrition journals. Jaspreet holds two masters’ degrees from universities in the United States and India.
DR. RAJWANT SINGH | Community Outreach
A founding member, Dr. Singh has been in charge of community outreach programs. A dentist and known community leader, he is the Executive Director of Guru Gobind Singh Foundation Maryland for 20 years and the National Chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education, USA, for 10 years.
KANWAL SINGH |Coordinator, Finance
A member of the American Institute of CPA’s and Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, Mr. Singh is also a distinguished member of the Washington area Sikh community. She is partner in a reputable CPA firm in Chevy Chase, Maryland, which caters to high net worth clients with an emphasis on professional and personal service corporations. She brings to the SHDF Board the much-needed skills and experience in finance and accounting.
ABINASH SINGH | Coordinator, Technology
A Fellow engineer at Northrop Grumman overseeing mechanical systems design and program management on U.S. Navy submarines and surface ships. He is the recipient of several trade secret awards and a Northrop Grumman Presidential Leadership Award.
DR. MANMOHAN SINGH | Coordinator, Special Initiatives
A senior official at the International Monetary Fund, and head of Fiscal Policy and Financial Divisions. Mr. Singh has worked on major industrial and emerging market countries. He graduated from the London School of Economics, and earned Ph.D. from Cambridge University, where he was a Fellow and taught for five years. He has also taught at Georgetown University and Harvard University. He has served as a Director at Credit Suisse, and is the author of several books and papers.

A successful business entrepreneur with 10 years of experience in applying marketing strategies. Worked for Verizon at managerial positions for 15 years. A community leader and Sewadar connected with a number of Sikh organizations. Ex-Division Governor of the Toastmasters International Organization. Masters in Business Administration.
