After years of struggling to complete his education and support his family, Harjeet Singh is now a software engineer with Infosys.
Like many students from financially-challenged backgrounds, Harjeet is the son of a humble carpenter from New Delhi, whose family lives in a 10×10 house. However, his perseverance and zeal to beat the odds and become an engineer have paid off with a little help from the Sikh Human Development Foundation, which provided him with four consecutive scholarships.
A student of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi, Harjeet scored extremely high in his engineering courses and landed a job with one of India’s top-notch information technology companies.
In his spare time, Harjeet still helps his father in finishing plywood and board treatments, helps his mother with stitching clothing to support the family, and teaches school children on the side.
Harjeet is his family’s shining star, and while determined and ambitious, his road to success would have been paved with many more financial hardships had it not been for SHDF.
