Amandeep Kaur up in a small village in Amritsar. Her father, a farmer, supported her education, as well as that of her brother and sister. Additionally, he took care of health-related expenses of her aunt, and Amandeep’s mother tried to contribute to the family income by doing work on farms. Despite all that, money was scarce.
The hardships her family went through were daunting, but Amandeep’s deep desire to take a master of computer applications (MCA) course was a driving force. However, beset with family limitations and resources, she was on the brink of dropping out when the SHDF scholarship became an option. The financial support from the SHDF scholarship helped Amandeep complete her education and stand on her own two feet.
“Thanks to the SHDF scholarship, today I am supporting my younger brother in his studies while working as a computer lecturer in Baba Aya Singh Riarki College, Gurdaspur,” says Amandeep.
